"La Riviera et les Americains" ist ein dynamischer Film, der Archivaufnahmen, Karten und animierte Grafiken mit einer humorvollen historischen Erzählweise und zahlreichen persönlichen Berichten kombiniert. Der Film erzählt die Geschichte des zweiten Weltkriegs, des französischen Widerstands und der Befreiung Frankreichs aus einer originellen, lokalen Perspektive. Er beleuchtet Episoden und Persönlichkeiten, die in der Geschichte oft vergessen wurden: die Landung in der Provence und die Befreiung der Côte d’Azur, das Engagement der NISEI – amerikanische Soldaten hawaiianisch-japanischer Herkunft – sowie Isabelle Pell, eine Heldin im Schatten.
Der Film wird auf Englisch gezeigt. Die anschließende Diskussion findet jedoch auf Deutsch statt.
Dieser pädagogische Film wird vom US-Generalkonsulat in Marseille und der US-Botschaft in Frankreich präsentiert und wurde von Matthieu Verdeil inszeniert.
Die Veranstaltung findet in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Freundeskreis Nürnberg-Nizza und dem Amt für Internationale Beziehungen der Stadt Nürnberg statt. Als Ehrengast wird die Bürgermeisterin der Stadt Nizza, Dr. Christiane Dinges-Amiel erwartet.

Designed for students but enjoyed by all ages, this dynamic film combines archive images, maps and animated graphics to complement a humorous historical narrative and numerous personal accounts. The film tells the story of the war, the Resistance and the Liberation of France, providing an original, local perspective. It sheds light on episodes or characters forgotten in history: the Provence landings and the Liberation of the Côte d'Azur, the action of the NISEI, these American soldiers of Hawaiian-Japanese origin, and Isabelle Pell, a heroine in the shadows.
The film will be shown in English. However, the discussion following the film will be in German.
This educational film is offered by the U.S. Consulate General in Marseille and the U.S. Embassy in France and was directed by Matthieu Verdeil. This event is in cooperation with the Freundeskreis Nürnberg-Nizza and the Office for International Relations of the City of Nürnberg. The Mayor of the city of Nice, Dr. Christiane Dinges-Amiel, is expected to attend as the guest of honor.
