The Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut (DAI) is dedicated to fostering cultural and intellectual exchange between Germany and the United States. As a binational platform, it offers a space where ideas from both nations come together, strengthening transatlantic ties. Through a range of events such as lectures, concerts, and discussions on U.S. societal, political, and economic topics, the DAI promotes understanding and dialogue. The institute also provides English courses and discussion groups for people of all ages to engage with American culture and improve their language skills.
The DAI offers a wide variety of programs and events such as
Lectures and discussions covering societal, political, and economic issues in the U.S. Concerts and readings showcasing American culture through music and literature English courses and discussion groups engaging all age groups to enhance language skills and explore American life Children's programs such as English story time or STEM Day to familiarize children with the English language in a fun and exciting way Youth programs such as the Battle of the Books or Open Air Classrooms to help young people engage with the English language in a meaningful way
Programs, events and lectures are offered in both English and German, depending on the topic and/or the speaker.
The DAI is open to the general public at these hours:
Tuesday 2 pm - 6:30 pm
Thursday 2 pm - 5:30 pm
Friday 10 am - 2 pm
Library and Resources
The DAI hosts the largest English-language library in Northern Bavaria offering thousands of English books. It is open to the public during its opening hours:

Friday 10 am - 2 pm
Our library offers a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as books suited for children and young adults.
We also own a huge collection of DVDs and audiobooks and offer several English magazines as well as daily German newspapers.
Online resource databases are also available.
After you acquire one of our library cards, you will be able to borrow books for 4 weeks and magazines, audio CDs, and DVDs for 2 weeks. Newspapers are not able to be borrowed.

To become a member of the Association of Friends of Amerikahaus Nuremberg please contact the board under foerderverein@dai-nuernberg.de.
As a member you receive a free library card, discounts on our offered courses and entry fees for events, as well as an exclusive invitation to our Independence Day party.
The DAI offers various opportunities for students and young people to become involved through internships and volunteer work. For more information click here.
